065 - Operational Gifts

Welcome!

Welcome to thirty-two eleven (”3211”). This newsletter will entail: 3 Reads, 2 Rabbit Holes, 1 Watch, and 1 Listen — 3/2/1/1. Detailing what I have been up to, on the internet.

introduction:

Go Birds.

3 reads:

1 - Fascinating read revolving around gifts during CIA operations. If an agent is gifted a watch or similar, it is then the US Government’s property. If the gift furthers the mission, it is kept and worn. If not, the agent has the opportunity to buy back this watch at retail value from the government.

2 - The Department of State’s list of Gifts to Federal Employees from Foreign Government Sources from 2023.

The Honorable Joseph R. Biden Jr., President of the United States circumstances justifying acceptance are noted as “Non-acceptance would cause embarrassment to donor and U.S. Government.” Interesting to see the value of each gift and for who.

3 - Half Marathon - Robots vs. Humans.

2 rabbit holes:

1 - “Survivorship Bias” Framework

2 - The annual Chipotle STRAVA challenge has ended. Run around Chipotle in your respective city as much as you can on STRAVA and receive Chipotle for a year.

“The individual with the most segment completions in each city is crowned Local Legend and wins free Lifestyle Bowls for a year

The top performing city that logs the most mileage is crowned the Winning City and earns a BOGO Free entrée* for all residents”

Congratulations to San Francisco on BOGO free entrees for all residents.

1 watch:

1 - Dean Petty’s Nova Scotia Coast Home.

1 listen:

1 - Messy (Laszewo edit)

Cheers,
