Welcome!
Welcome to thirty-two eleven (”3211”). This newsletter will entail: 3 Reads, 2 Rabbit Holes, 1 Watch, and 1 Listen — 3/2/1/1. Detailing what I have been up to, on the internet.
introduction:
A deep quote to kick off this weekend by Seneca:
“We suffer more in our imagination more often than in reality.”
3 reads:
1 - I have been fascinated by historic watches and their use cases in the military. From pilot watches to dive watches. I came across this blog, Watches of Espionage, that dives into famous watches among those who served and stories surrounding them. A recent favorite of mine, The Seiko 6309.
2 - Fascinating to read about the ridiculous requests of the Silicon Valley wealthy from a private chef’s point of view.
3 - Interesting take on the surge of NIL (Name, Image, and Likeliness) in college athletics. Fanstake recently raised a $3M preseed round.
High level, the software allows fans to stake financial support to promising recruits, transfer players, or current athletes, with funds going directly to the athlete’s NIL deal with Fanstake if they choose the fan's school. If they do not, the funds are returned to the fans.
Might mess around and stake money to get Ashton Jeanty to F&M next season.
2 rabbit holes:
1 - One of my favorite rabbit holes every year - Time Magazine’s 200 Best Inventions of 2024.
2 - For those visiting or living in the big apple - the best sauces in NYC.
1 watch:
1 - Taking insurance fraud to a new level. Wearing a fake bear suit and damaging your three luxury cars.
1 listen:
1 - Orange Blossoms - Goldford.
Cheers,
