3 reads:

1 - Published in July, I picked up Never Enough: From Barista to Billionaire by Andrew Wilkinson this past Sunday, have been plowing through it about 80% of the way through - definitely recommend. Well written and fascinating to hear from a college dropout turned billionaire his thoughts on the chase for wealth.

A bit about him and the book:

I'm the co-founder of Tiny and author of Never Enough: From Barista to Billionaire.

My journey from a college dropout to a tech investor and businessman is not your average success story. It’s a tale of unrelenting ambition, unexpected lessons, and the pursuit of something greater than wealth.

Through Never Enough, I share the realities of entrepreneurial life – the good, the bad, and the often overlooked. It's a story about finding meaning in the mundane and learning that success isn't just about the balance in your bank account, but also about ethics, relationships, and personal well-being.

As someone who has acquired over 40 companies and faced the complexities of immense success, I've learned that the greatest achievements often come with their own set of challenges. My book is an honest reflection of this journey, offering insights into the highs and lows of striving for "never enough".

1 watch:

1 - I recently listened to Jordan Jonas on Lex Friedman’s podcast, the winner of Alone Season 6 - some regard him as the best contestant to ever appear on the show. Fascinating to hear about his time living as a Reindeer herder in Siberia.

The show’s premise:

Alone is an American survival competition series on History. It follows the self-documented daily struggles of 10 individuals (seven paired teams in season 4) as they survive alone in the wilderness for as long as possible using 10 items the contestants choose to bring.

With the exception of medical check-ins, the participants are isolated from each other and all other humans. They may withdraw from the competition ("tap out") at any time, or be removed due to failing a medical check-in. The contestant who remains the longest wins a grand prize of $500,000 (USD) (increased to $1 million for season 7).

A bit about Jordan Jonas:

Jordan grew up in the Idaho country, surrounded by the beautiful lakes of that vast state. Being surrounded by nature, he grew up spending his formative years in nature. As a young adult he came of age as he spent a year riding freight trains across the US - spending countless days and nights navigating both rural and urban environments.

Soon after he left for Russia where he would spend the better part of the next ten years living in Siberia in villages, with fur trappers, and ultimately with traditional nomadic reindeer herders. Amongst these people Jordan would learn the art of survival - not as taught in classes, but as lived day in and day out by people whose existence depends on those skills.
