Welcome!
Welcome to thirty-two eleven (”3211”). This newsletter will entail: 3 Reads, 2 Rabbit Holes, 1 Watch, and 1 Listen — 3/2/1/1. Detailing what I have been up to, on the internet.
introduction:
Big past week of live music. Saw Zach Bryan on Friday and The Tedeschi Trucks Band this past Tuesday.
Tedeschi Trucks was awesome, a 12-person band led by Susan Tedeschi and her husband Derek Trucks.
Susan Tedeschi was born in Boston, attending predominantly African-American Baptist churches, feeling that the music was "less repressed and more like a celebration of God". She attended Berklee College of Music where she sang gospel choir. Her band The Susan Tedeschi Band opened for The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Dylan, and the Rolling Stones among others. While in New Orleans opening for the Allman Brothers Band on their 1999 summer tour, Susan Tedeschi met Derek Trucks the Allman Brothers slide guitarist and lead guitarist of The Derek Trucks Band.
Derek Trucks was a prodigy guitar player starting at the age of nine. By his 20th birthday, he played with artists such as Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh, and Stephen Stills. After touring with the Allman Brothers Band for a number of years he became a formal member in 1999. Derek Trucks was one of the greatest guitar players I've ever seen.
Along with their personal relationship, the two started the Soul Stew Revival joining together both of their bands. They later announced a new group called Tedeschi Trucks Band in 2010.
3 reads:
1 - Scientists began tracking the health of 268 Harvard sophomores in 1938 during the Great Depression. They have followed these people for 80 years, with only 19 of them still alive, all in their mid-90s. Among the original recruits was eventual President John F. Kennedy. The Scientists eventually expanded their research to include the men’s offspring, who now number 1,300 and are in their 50s and 60s, to find out how early-life experiences affect health and aging over time.
2 - “Is it not ironic that the things that actually expand your mind are illegal and the things that keep you in the lower chakras and dumb you down have been legal for centuries?” said Rodgers, who has spoken in the past about his use of ayahuasca, a strong hallucinogen.

2 rabbit holes:
1 - Went down a professional beatboxing rabbit hole recently. Pretty wild what these guys can do.
