015 - Pigeons

Welcome!

Welcome to thirty-two eleven (”3211”). This newsletter will entail: 3 Reads, 2 Rabbit Holes, 1 Watch, and 1 Listen — 3/2/1/1. Detailing what I have been up to, on the internet.

introduction:

Had an interesting conversation with a friend. As discussed previously, "cultured" or "lab grown" meat has been huge recently - the largest factory is currently under construction in Wilson, North Carolina. However, if this meat is "lab grown" and you are vegetarian, are you breaking the rules of vegetarianism by eating it?

3 reads:

1 - Canaries were used in mines from the late 1800s to detect gases, such as carbon monoxide. The gas is deadly to humans – and canaries alike – in large quantities, but canaries are much more sensitive to small amounts of the gas, and so will react more quickly than humans. This article details the device built for Canaries to flag carbon monoxide in mines.

2 - A little creepy, but effective. Ring recently released their newest product for home security - The Always Home Cam.

3 - During the cold war, the CIA used pigeons to spy.

2 rabbit holes:

1 - Great site for finding the absolute best product you are looking for.

2 - More pigeons up to no good. They are being used to smuggle drugs in little backpacks now.

1 watch:

1 - Watched the movie Sicario again last night. I think I could watch it every day and not get tired of it. Currently streaming on Prime Video.

1 listen:

1 - David Choe has some insane stories about hitch hiking in difference countries.

Cheers,
